Redirect Checker

Checker whether a URL has a redirect.

Redirect Checker

Redirect Checker is a useful tool that helps you determine whether a URL has a redirect or not. It provides insights into the target URL and the number of redirects involved.

Our Redirect Checker can help you in identifying and resolving issues associated with incorrect or broken redirects which may affect your website’s performance and search engine ranking.

Enter the URL you wish to inspect into our tool. Click the "Check Redirect" button to initiate the process. The tool will promptly display the target URL and provide information about the number of redirects involved in reaching that destination. The number of redirects is shown in parenthesis in front of the target URL.

Understanding URL Redirection

URL redirection is a technique used to divert web traffic from one URL to another. It is employed for various purposes, such as:

  • URL Shortening: To provide users with concise, easy-to-remember URLs.
  • Content Optimization: To ensure that old URLs point to new content during website restructuring and migrations.
  • Tracking and Analytics: To monitor user interactions and gather data on link usage.
  • Testing: To direct users to a different webpage version for testing purposes.

How URL Redirection Works:

When you enter  a redirected URL into your browser, it proceeds through the following stages:

  • Initial Request: Your browser sends a request to the original URL.
  • Redirection Response: The server at the original URL responds with a redirection header, indicating the new URL to which the request should be sent.
  • Follow the Redirect: Your browser then sends a request to the new URL. This process repeats if there are multiple redirects in the chain.
